Werewolves are a rare strain of Wassies with a natural prevalence rate of about 2%.
During the day, Werewolves are not dissimilar from other Wassies and their only distinctive feature is their defining canine-like appearance. When the sun sets and the moon rises however, Werewolves benefit from improved reflexes, increased speeds, night vision and a heightened sense of smell and hearing. The magnitude of these physiological improvements correspond to the stages of the moon cycle with the Werewolves powers peaking during the full moon.
Despite these incredible abilities when the moon is out, Werewolves are unfortunately cursed with the same limited intellectual capabilities which plague the average Wassie. Since Werewolves do not fundamentally understand the day-night cycle, much less the moon cycle - their powers waning and waxing with the moon cycle is actually a double-edged sword. Werewolves have been observed starting fights with predators or other Wassies assuming that their powers have been activated simply because a light in a dark room went on or because they felt a wind in their back, only to quickly lose their lives in the ensuing fight.
This inability to understand the nature of their powers combined with their abilities' constantly varying means that Werewolves are incredibly prone to miscalculating their chances of survival. Outcasts hunting Werewolves often deploy a strategy whereby the Outcast simply sits in a dark room with a mirror or a lamp and waits for overconfident Werewolves to charge it.
