Slime Wassies (known as Slimes) are thought to be the result of an extremely rare genetic mutation that replaces the lower half of their body with a weird semi-fluid substance that has the viscosity of melted cheese.
Slimes can modify the viscosity of their slimy portions, increasing it to move about as quickly as an average Wassie and increasing it to move more slowly but allow it to climb walls or even stick to ceilings. Unlike Snail Wassies, Slimes leave slime trails only when their slime is at high viscosity (such as when they are climbing or trying to stick to surfaces) and the trail attracts rather than repels predators. Many a predator has followed the sweet trail of slime to find a Slime conveniently stuck to a surface as easy prey.
The slimy portions of Slimes can be harvested without killing the Slime and given enough food, Slimes who have had parts of their slimy bits cut off them will start regenerating the lost bits like an expanding cheese fondue. Clever Outcasts have identified this utility of Slimes and have been known to keep Slimes as slaves to produce the adhesive material which the Outcasts use to trap other Wassies or simply torture Wassies by sticking them to surfaces or gluing their beaks shut.
