Chubby Wassies (known colloquially as Chubbies) are a strain of Wassie that is easily identified by their robust bodies and insatiable appetites. Although popular amongst Wassie enthusiasts for their cute and adorable appearance, it is known amongst Wassie-keepers that maintaining a fridge enclosure with too many Chubbies is challenging given the fact that Chubbies consume four times as much food as regular Wassies.
Their voracious appetite is a concern for more than just Wassie-keepers. Although Chubbies generally have a peaceful and easy-going temperament (described famously as akin to a wise Jasmine-tea loving Japanese gentleman), hungry Chubbies turn into angry and irritable creatures with increased capabilities and heightened willingness to pursue aggression to sate their hunger. Wassie scientists experimenting on Chubbies have observed that extreme hungers result in Chubbies radiating a dim purple to greenish light, revealing their radioactive nature.
Though a juicy target for predators, the tables can quickly turn on the would-be predator if predation is attempted while a Chubby is still hungry. While a satiated Chubby generally puts up little resistance and can be easily consumed, a Chubby with nothing in its belly becomes a voracious monster that is able to lift relatively heavy objects to crush would-be predators. Though Outcasts are generally able to (bemusedly) dispatch even hungry Chubbies with ease, there is at least one known occasion of a young Outcast being crushed by a Chubby after it was stunned by the Chubby rushing towards it rather than away from it.
